Naomi is a 13 year old cowgirl with a great love and talent for singing country music. In the past few years Naomi has travelled across the countryside in Canada and the United States performing for thousands while being rewarded with kindness and admiration from folks of every age. Naomi’s love for old tyme traditional country music lead her to self taught yodeling. When Naomi was 8 years old she saw a little girl on television yodeling and decided it was something she would like to try, so she sent away to Nashville for a tape and booklet of “Margo Smith Learn to Yodel”. For the past four years Naomi has spent endless hours practicing and improving her yodeling techniques. She has been adopted by the Queen of Yodeling “Janet McBride“ whom has offered immense support and greatly appreciated direction.

Among the many accolades received this past year Naomi cherishes the “Fans Choice Award” from the Havelock Jamboree, the “Rising Star Award’ from the BC Cowboy Heritage Festival and The Western Music Association “Youth Yodeler of the Year”. On Canada Day Naomi received awards from Municipal, Provincial, and Federal Governments for her outstanding achievements in music.

Naomi weekly trains with vocal coach Mr John Dodington, worldly renown opera singer. Mr Dodington (Uncle to Victoria Banks/Canadian Country Female Vocalist) performed in the Canadian production of “Phantom of the Opera” for 10 years. He has a strong ability to coach Naomi in her genre of music while maintaining perfection vocally. His wisdom and guidance both vocally and theatrically are truly valued. Naomi is also very drawn to musical theatre. Along with several principal roles in school plays Naomi has also performed at Marquee Theatre company as the lead role in the production of “High School Musical” and in the children’s ensemble in the production of “Oklahoma”, also playing the principal role in "I Believe In Christmas". Naomi also has a great appreciation for western cowboy music enjoying it’s story telling and simplicity. Naomi’s strong faith has guided her to gospel music and she loves to sing with her church band.

Naomi spends a great deal of time at the local hockey arena with her two brothers. As a proud Canadian girl Naomi also played hockey until recently when she decided to hang up her skates to be replaced with dance shoes which is crucial for her musical theatre pursuit. She trained in tap and jazz at Dance Mania in Alliston.

Naomi is the “official” anthem singer for the Alliston Hornets Junior C Hockey Team. In 2008 and 2010 Naomi sang them all the way to the top winning the “Smaltz Cup Provincial Championship” twice in three years. GO HORNETS GO. This was an awesome experience for Naomi and she truly enjoyed cheering on the team and being a part of local history. Recently Naomi had the opportunity to sing the Canadian anthem for the inaugural ceremonies which was truly an honour.

Naomi lives on a small horse farm in Beeton, Ontario Canada with her Mom Lynda and her Dad Eugene. She has a sister Amber and two brothers Hayden and Westin. The most treasured possessions of Naomi’s life is her little dog “Sadie”. Sadie is a Bichon Frise. Naomi saved her prize money from singing contests to purchase the little puppy herself. Raised in a rodeo family Naomi of course has a great love for animals and enjoys riding at any opportunity.

Naomi spends a minimum of an hour per day practicing her singing. She is currently taking guitar lessons to help with her “bucket list” of song writing. Dobro, piano, banjo, fiddle, harmonica and madolin are also part of her musical life as she would love to play every instrument. In the spring of 2008 Naomi recorded her first album titled “Cowboy Sweetheart”, followed by "The Yodelin' Cowgirl" November 1st 2008, then "Ridin' High" which came out July 20th 2009. Ridin' High was awarded the "Best Traditional Yodel Album of the Year 2010" by the National Traditional Country Music Association in the United States. She recorded her first three albums at Ambassador Records in Oshawa. Her albums is featured with music legends like Steve Piticco on guitar and Don Reed on fiddle, Paul Evans on Steel guitar, Frank Woodcock on drums and background vocals, and Steve O'Connor on piano (on 2nd CD). Her fourth CD "Lookin' Back" was just recorded in Nashville, TN and Naomi had the honour to sing two duets with Jim Ed Brown, Grand Ole Opry Star. The musicians that are featured on this album are among the best in the business. Mike Baker on electric guitar, Bob Angello on steel guitar, Steve Sturm on acoustic guitar, Mike Schrimpf or keyboard and harmonica, Eddy Anderson on drums, Dick McVey on bass guitar and Mike Lusk and Netha Larsen performing background vocals. This was an experience that will remain an incredible blessing in Naomi’s journey. Naomi is presently releasing an album with a collection of all her yodeling songs titled “Yee Haw Yodelin’.

A large part of Naomi's performances this past year have been with the CKNX Barn Dance from Wingham, Ontario which is where Shania Twain cut her teeth. Naomi has performed on Breakfast Television, YTV, A channel and showcased her talents at the famous Nashville Palace. The highlights of the past summer were the main stage at Havelock Country Jamboree and the Big Valley Jamboree in Camrose Alberta. Naomi will be featured on the RFD national television station with the Shotgun Red Variety Show, Branson Missouri which will be aired in January 2011. Naomi has just been selected as a finalist for the Western Music Association Crescendo Award for Outstanding Youth. She has opened for Gene Watson, Jessie Farrell, Aaron Pritchett, The Good Brothers, Larry Mercey, Gordie Tapp and many other established country artists.
